In the spirit of the Northend Community and the Park Project we thought it would be a great idea to have the community out for a BBQ, The weather was cool, the rain/snow was fast approaching, but that didn't keep more than 60 people from showing to enjoy some hot dogs and the company of their neighbours.

The children played in the background, the band silenced their instruments, and we drew the crowd closer.

"We invited you here today to share in something which we think is great. This is about a community being a community, and having a vision...

...As I said before, today you have been invited to share in something we think is great. As the next step toward the reshaping of a community we are reclaiming a lost space in our neighbourhood, A space which was once a hub of activity, a space to call our own, to gather with friends, and be a community.

WHY? BECAUSE EVERY COMMUNITY NEEDS A SPACE TO CALL THEIR OWN.

We, as a community, are going to reclaim and rebuild this park, fondly known as Louisa Gardens by many. We are going to turn it into a space for both young and young at heart, and we want to do it as a community. And as the first step in our journey we are pleased to announce that the Northend Community has been awarded the first ever “Let them be Kids, Heart to Heart Award”, an award which acknowledges the efforts of a community to band together and create change, to dream, and to move forward as a community. And from this date forward, until our build day, Let Them Be Kids is going to match every dollar we raise for equipment with a dollar toward  our goal.

And when is that build day: September 8th! So mark your calendars, and come on out for a good old fashioned barn raising. And when we walk away that day, this park will be a place we are proud to call part of the Northend. But most of all we will be able to say 'WE BUILT IT TOGETHER'"
