Thank you for your willingness to participate in the Let Them Be Kids/Northend Park Project in Sydney on September 8, 2012.

Over the next few months we will be sending you updates on the progress of the activities, want lists, as well as information you will need in preparation for the big event.

Things have been going full tilt in the last week or two and some great things have been happening.

Sydney Credit Union has stepped up with a great fundraiser for the park. They are selling $1 tickets on a Great Golf Package which includes a night at the Birches Inn and Green Fees at the Lakes (along with some other golf extras). Tickets are being sold at either branch of Sydney Credit Union and the draw date is August 3rd.

We have also gotten our first daft design of the playground which the children played such a huge role in designing. Just a few tweaks and we will let you in on the design.

We are now set up, through CBRM, to issue tax receipts for donations over $50. If you, or someone you know, wants a tax receipt, make sure we have your name and address with your donation (cheques must be made out to Cape Breton Regional Municipality).

We are also set up on our website to receive on-line donations through PayPal. Visit to make your donation.

We are planning a wagon drive for Sunday, June 10 at 1:00pm. We will be traveling around the Northend, going door to door, looking for your spare change. Help us fill the wagon and give our kids the park they deserve. Every dollar counts... in fact, every dollar counts as two with Let Them Be Kids matching every dollar we raise. Our goal for the day is $3000, I think we can do it!

We would like to thank all of you who registered on the site and coming forward as individuals who want to be part of this great project.

We also had our first Business team register for build day. Marcato Digital Solutions registered their entire office to come out and help out. Thank a lot guys, that a way to show community spirit.

It is a big project and many hands are needed, so please encourage your family, friends and fellow co-workersto register as well.

It is sure to be a great day.
